Precision lock nuts

Industrial lock nuts with locking washers are not suitable for use with super-precision bearings because of the relatively wide manufacturing tolerances of the thread and abutment surfaces. As a result, SKF developed a complete range of precision lock nuts manufactured to very tight tolerances. These easy-to-install devices, which accurately and effectively locate bearings and other components on a shaft, meet machine tool requirements both technically and economically.
 
All SKF precision lock nuts use friction between the flanks of the spindle shaft thread and the lock nut to secure them. To utilize this friction, SKF manufactures two different precision lock nut designs:

• precision lock nuts with locking pins
• precision lock nuts with axial locking screws
